I grew up in mountainous forest country on a large dairy farm with lots of tame and wild animals and lot's of beautiful trees.
At an early age I discovered that trees are not only fun to play in, they are very much alive.
As most people know, trees produce a large amount of the earth’s oxygen. I would climb way up to the tip of a tall tree and let the wind rock us back and forth. I used to love doing this, it was always a lot of fun for me.
I was doing my usual tree climbing one day but slipped and fell from about 50 or 60 feet up. On the way down the trees branches cradled me as I made my way to the ground. The tree branches actually allowed me to land on my feet. It is in that moment that I learned what wonderful ‘slides’ trees make.
Another wonderful thing about trees is they are filled with an abundance of energy and they are only too happy to share it with you, providing you ask them too and love them for doing so.
Try this when you have a moment. Place your hand palm first on a tree and ask it, (silently or out loud) if it will share with you? Within several seconds your palm will begin to feel warm. If you don’t feel anything, try another tree. Send your love to it. Once you feel that you have a bond with the tree, place your arms around it. Close your eyes, clear your mind and become one with the tree. It also helps if you take off your shoes and are bare foot on the ground. Within several minutes you will start feeling refreshed and begin to feel more alert and active.
Next time you’re feeling tired, sluggish, or worn out - give it a try. It’s not the same as an energy drink but I believe it’s a close second.
I still enjoy playing in the trees today.
