I had just started a new job as the Technical Director for a
performing arts center. I had been warned to never stay over night by the previous Technician. Of course I had laughed and said something like "why, is it haunted"? He said "yes it is".
I didn't think much more about it. I had a job to do and one of the first things I wanted to do was to make sure the stage curtains were all fireproofed.
When I got them back from having them fireproofed, I stacked them on the stage in very tidy bundles and started to put them back up. I got about half way thru the job before I decided to go home and return very early the next morning to complete the job.
When I left the previous evening it was about midnight and I returned the next morning at about 7 am. I had locked everything up and put the security system on before I left for the evening.
When I walked in the next morning I found that the stage curtains were not there. I was shocked. I started to rethink everything. Was I sure I put the curtains on the stage? I looked all over the facility, I did not leave any area untouched. I could not find them anywhere. I decided to check the security log to see if anyone else had been in the theatre after I had left the night before. The only person who had been in the theatre was me.
I was beginning to panic because I had a show that afternoon and I needed the curtains up before the show. I continued to look everywhere for the third time. I climbed the ladder to the catwalk, walked along the catwalk system and found nothing.
When I opened the door to come down from the catwalk I saw the curtains piled in a complete mess on top of a high cupboard with a chair on top of them. The only chair that I could use that would give me enough height to reach the curtains was piled on top of the curtains.
It was at that moment that I realized - the place was indeed haunted and the ghost had a sense of humor.
That was the beginning of 9 years of regular encounters with a very interesting being.
